Sandy Saints is proudly run by a passionate team of volunteers from our local community. Our committee members donate their time and energy to create a club environment that reflects our mission—one that’s inclusive, respectful, and community-driven.

Whether they’re coordinating teams, securing courts, answering questions, or supporting our players and families, each member plays a vital role in keeping the club running smoothly.

We’ve divided our committee into Office Bearers and General Committee Members to help you get to know the people behind the scenes.

Meet the team

  • SARAH DAVOREN

    PRESIDENT

    Sarah leads the club with energy and heart. As President, she oversees strategy, governance, and community engagement, ensuring the club stays true to its values. Sarah brings legal and leadership experience to the role, but it’s her love for community sport—and her own children’s involvement in basketball—that drives her commitment to Sandy Saints.

  • Mel Barrett

    VP & COMMUNICATIONS

    Mel supports the club’s strategic planning while managing all things communications. From social posts to newsletters and team announcements, she’s the reason you know what’s happening and when. Mel is passionate about building connections within the club and helping families feel informed, welcomed, and included.

  • Erin Geraghty

    GIRLS REGISTRAR

    Erin handles registrations for our girls teams and is often the first point of contact for new families. She works hard behind the scenes to balance teams, welcome new players, and ensure a smooth start to each season. Erin’s strong organisational skills and inclusive mindset make her a vital part of our team.

  • Katherine Horejsi

    CLUB SECRETARY AND CHILD SAFETY OFFICER

    Katherine keeps the wheels turning. As Secretary, she manages meetings, records, and key governance documents. She also serves as our Child Safety Officer, ensuring the club maintains a safe, trusted environment for every player. Catherine’s calm, thorough, and community-minded approach keeps the club steady and compliant.


  • Adele Whineray

    TRAINING COURTS & COACHING CLINICS COORDINATOR

    Adele is a lifelong basketball lover who ensures our players have access to courts and quality training. She coordinates weekly training schedules, manages venue bookings, and helps run coaching clinics throughout the year. Adele is passionate about helping players and coaches develop their skills in a fun, structured environment.

Open Roles – Get Involved!

We’re always looking for enthusiastic community members to join the committee and help shape the future of Sandy Saints. We’re currently seeking volunteers for the following roles:

Treasurer

Sarah Davoren is currently juggling this role alongside her President duties, but would love to hand it over to someone more qualified.

Boys Registrar

Erin Geraghty continues as our Girls Registrar, and we’re looking for a dedicated volunteer to take on the boys side.

Coaching Clinics Coordinator

Adele Whineray is helping launch this new initiative but is keen to find someone to take the reins and support our amazing volunteer coaches.

Uniforms Coordinator

This role is currently being shared across the committee, but we’re actively looking for someone to manage uniform orders and logistics going forward.
